Lewis Hamilton’s first place finish at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi was his 42nd career win, putting him level with Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel, who also has 42 wins. Both drivers have passed Formula 1 Legend Ayrton Senna’s 41 career wins, and the weight of the moment was not lost by either driver.
The next race on the Formula 1 calendar represents a new era for the sport. Hamilton and Vettel will continue to perform epic battles in their pursuit of the ultimate milestone of 91 wins, held by Michael Schumacher. Conventional thinkers believe that neither can win 49 more races in their careers and match Schumacher. Their epic rivalry is beginning the “post-Senna” stage of their saga! The story that Hamilton and Vettel are about to compose will be seen by history as one of the great battling duo’s in Formula 1. I believe history will confirm Michael Schumacher as the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time when neither Vettel of Hamilton comes close to the Great Schumi’s 91 wins!
